Do The Wave

Wavy hair is making its way into spring and summer. Whether you are going out for a romantic candlelit dinner, or tanning by the beach, wavy hair is the perfect look.
The glamorous Hollywood waves are perfect for those special occasions and fancy dinners. This look can be achieved with a curling wand (the curling iron without the clamp). If you don’t have one, or don’t want to purchase one a curling iron will do the trick, but avoid using the clamp when creating the waves. Grab small sections of your hair and wrap hair around the rod. Leave roots straight and natural, and only curl hair from ears down to obtain the sophisticated waves.
Beach wave is an effortless look that anyone can do. It is the perfect summer look that can be worn with almost every outfit. With the help of a texturizing spray and a diffuser attached to your blow dryer, it will be a hairdo done in less than 15 minutes. Do you have straight hair? Wrap chunks of hair around a curling iron, this process can be done messily. Apply some texturizing spray and voilà!

Spring Survival Tips

After scouring all the beauty blogs all over the internet, we have compiled the best of the best spring beauty tips and products! Everything from hair trends, to nails, and makeup.

Hair:
KEEP IT SIMPLE! There are 2 different versions of the same look, either sleek and polished, or textured and both can be rocked for spring.
My personal favorite for the coming heat is loose, textured ponytails, buns and braids. They are so simple, and can give you that finished look without spending hours in front of the mirror. Texturizing sprays help to give hair that “slept on” look.
Don’t forget to get a trim to start off the spring season!

Makeup:
Less is more. With the weather getting warmer, you want to make sure your makeup isn’t too heavy. Your face makeup should contain an SPF of at least 15. Try a tinted moisturizer to give you coverage without the cake. Neutral colors are in for spring. Use a brown eye shadow that is slightly darker than your skin tone to give contrast without heaviness. Brown mascara will give you defined lashes without harshness. Make sure to throw in a pop of color with your blush for a playful, spring look. Smile, and then apply the color on the apple of your cheeks in a swirling motion.

Nails:
Recently I have become obsessed with nail polish. They are a fun way to change up your style, with a pop of color, or a dainty sheer. OPI has come out with a polish that creates a shattered look in everything from black to bright blue. It gives your base color a funky flare. If you are opting for the more muted look, make sure it is high gloss. Pastel colors are great for spring to add a feminine touch like Priti NYC’s September Charm (peachy-pink) polish or Geisha Girl (lavender).

Make Way For Red

Red has been a color that people have stayed away from for so many years. It is slowly blossoming and making its way in current fashion trends. Not only has it become popular in recent clothing fads, it has finally made a name for itself in hair trends as well. The color red is all about being bold and fierce. It is subtly sexy and a hair color that is not going anywhere for a while.
Who said all models have to be blondes and brunettes? Make way for the fiery redheads that are just as beautiful!

Ready to make that bold statement? Go red!

Goodbye Harry, Hello Fashion

Although the Harry Potter series is coming to a close, Emma Watson is definitely here to stay. The 20-year-old actress recently dropped her long, gorgeous locks and went for a short pixie cut. It was as if she was bidding farewell to her shadow, Hermione Granger and moving on to the next chapter in her life. With her stunning new look, Emma Watson will still be an amazing fashion icon of her generation.

Recently announced, Emma Watson will be the new youthful face for Lancôme. Joining other stars like Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet, Emma Watson will without a doubt be a great new addition. With her former experience as the face for Burberry in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, this will be no problem for her.
Personally, I love her long locks, but her new makeover is mature, beautiful and perfect for her new journey with Lancôme and more to come.

Spring Has Sprung

Spring is fast approaching as the weather starts to warm and the fun, flirty colors come out to play. This spring there are some hot new hairstyles that are fun and easy. You don’t have to worry about fussing all day so you can go enjoy the sun!
This low bun, created by Guido Palau for Nina Ricci’s spring show, is easy and playful. Just twist your hair at the nape of your neck, secure and go! No need to worry about every strand being perfectly slicked down, the looser the better. This look is great for a day at the beach, walking through a garden on a perfect spring day, even a date.

Bangs are back. With the 70’s feel that is coming in for spring fashion, bangs are right along with it. They give a little youthful feel, but very grown up and sexy.  They are best to be kept below the eyebrow and curved around the sides creating a natural look.

So shake off your winter blues by trying some of these minor changes, leaving you feeling renewed and ready for all the fun that spring will bring.

Red Was The Color Of The Night

Last night’s red carpet for the Oscars didn’t disappoint. There were of course a few flops but overall the turnout was great and red was surprisingly the hot color of the night! Host Anne Hathaway walked the red carpet in an eye-catching Valentino dress and the always beautiful Sandra Bullock wore a stunning gown by Vera Wang. Other ladies who rocked the red included Jennifer Lawrence, Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Hudson. But the red didn’t stop there! Zoe Saldana, Selita Ebanks, Selena Gomez, and Ginnifer Goodwin to name a few all rocked the bold color at Oscar after parties.

So if we incorporate hair, jewelry, and overall look, who takes the win for the best dressed star in red?  Sandra Bullock gets my vote! She looked flawless.  It was a much needed redemption from the Golden Globes. I especially loved the minimalism she achieved with her choices of jewelry, makeup, and hair style. She didn’t overdo it but kept it simple. The striking color of red suited her milky skin perfectly and the touch of red lipstick made both the dress and her beautiful skin POP. Styling her hair into an elegant chignon tied the whole look together.  She made sure her makeup and hair didn’t overpower the already “standout” dress. Bravo to Sandra and her styling team!

Who do you think was the best dressed star of the night?!

Jen Aniston Has A Hot New Look

Never in a million years did I think I’d see Jennifer Aniston chop off her signature long layers and rock a shorter do. But I was wrong! This past week Aniston was all the buzz as she stepped in front of the cameras with a brand new look. Known as a celebrity hair icon, this was a shocking change for Aniston fans who have been following her and her hair since those “Rachel” days.
So why did Aniston go for such a drastic change? As Aniston puts it, “it was time for a change, time to simplify.” Aniston’s longtime hairstylist, Chris McMillan, calls it the hairline bob- shortened in back, longer in front.
Now, I love Jennifer Aniston but I’m not sure how I feel about this new look. I used to dream of having her long, beautiful waves. HOWEVER I won’t take away from the fact that her hair has great volume and shine

Will you be running to your salon today and following in Aniston’s footsteps?

Hair Spotlight: Emma Stone

Over the last few months Emma Stone has become unrecognizable . She bid adieu her fiery red locks and returned to her natural blonde hair color. It is undeniably a different and significant change. I have to admit, with the right hairstyle, she pulls off blonde rather well.
However, I am still a fan of those gorgeous red locks. The red hair seems to fit her energetic, yet graceful personality.

What do you think of Emma’s new color? Is she better as a blonde or redhead?

How To Achieve The Perfect Blowdry

After you leave the salon with your newly treated GLOSS Moderne hair, you’re on your own when it comes to styling at home. The Gloss Lisse keratin smoothing treatment makes the styling process easier by eliminating frizz, enhancing shine, and cutting styling time. But these few tips will help you master the perfect blowout to enhance the smoothing treatment even more.
The Styling Tool: The most important component of the blow dryer is the nozzle, for optimum straight results make sure you attach this hair-saving piece before you start your drying.
Brush: The brush you use to dry your hair plays a key role in determining how much volume and body you will achieve. Choose a round brush of 1 ¾ to 2 ½ for the best results.
Prep-Dry: Before using the round brush and applying maximum heat, make sure your hair is 80% dry first. To do this without creating frizz, pat hair with a towel after exiting the shower, apply a thermal protecting serum, like GLOSS Moderne High-Gloss Serum and then rough dry your hair from roots to ends with the dryer and your fingers.
Style-Dry:  When it’s time to round brush the hair, make sure to divide the hair into sections. Blow-dry your bangs first before doing the rest of the head, to avoid them being too dry and difficult to tame at the end. Always point the nozzle down and start from root to ends to prevent the hair from frizzing.
Last but not least, give your hair a quick blast of cold air to lock in the cuticles and give your hair a little extra shine!
